The first competition in medical writing for Arabs

• Are you a beginner medical writer? Or, want to test your skills in this growing field. Are you planning to work in this field and need a real challenge to test/improve yourself? Ok, that is your chance now to apply to the first medical writing competition for the Arabian beginner medical writers on pharmacist development group website.

Time: from 1 July to 31 July 2011.

Competitors: Arabian healthcare professionals who graduated from 2000-2010.

Place: pharmacist development group website. www.pharmacist-development.com

Issue: article from 500 - 700 words in a form of a review about drug, disease or general health topic.

Conditions:

1. Competitors must be health care professionals (physician, pharmacist, dentist …..) graduated in the period 2000 – 2010.
2. Competitors should be from the Arabian region.
3. Competitors should apply their articles from 15 May to 15 June 2011.
4.  The articles must be produced by you (competitors) and you have the rights to publish them.
5. The articles must be from trusted sources. And the sources of the article must be mentioned clearly. And the quote from any source shouldn’t be more than 40% of the article.
6. The articles are in English only.

Appraisal: your article will be appraised on three bases:

1. The quality of the article. (the articles will be reviewed and appraised by the scientific department of pharmacist development group) (1000 points).
2.  Popularity of the article. (how many visitors read the article)(One point/visitor).
3. Efficacy of the article. (how many readers interested in the article and share it)(25 point/share).

The quality of the article is determined according to ten things (100 point each):

1. The value: the good article should have helpful and valuable information.
2. The easiness: the article should be easy to be understood.
3. The ordination: the article should be well organized and the information comes in good sequence.
4. Accuracy: each point of the article should be linked to its source.
5. Generality (enough information): the article should cover the wanted issue by enough information.
6. Clearance: the information in the article (the advices/instructions) should be clear and able to be applied.
7. Attractiveness: the title of the article should be attractive to the readers.
8. Practicality: the article should have general advices or practical notes/tips to the reader.
9. Grammar: the article should be free of grammar errors.
10. Writing errors: the article should be free of writing errors.

Rewards: the total rewards of the competition are more than 130$ (may be increase by the time) delivered as the following:

• The first winner will be rewarded by 40$ dollars
• The winners from the second to the tenth will be rewarded by 10 dollars each.
• That is not the all: also,
• All the owners of precipitated article in the competition will be listed on pharmacist development group website.
• Each writer precipitate by three articles or more will be listed in our writers section on the site.
• The ten winners will be approved to the membership of the scientific department of pharmacist development group.
• And don’t forgive the scientific value the writers/readers will gain that is the most valuable thing.

Delivery of the rewards:

• The prizes will be delivered to the winner according to their country as the following (select the most convenient one):
• Egypt:  Mobil recharge/post/alert pay.
• KSA: Mobil recharge/transfer to bank account/alert pay.
• Other countries: alert pay/PayPal. 

How to increase your chance to win:

• The quality of the article is the base of win. Try to select an important issue (wanted and unique), select an attractive title, select the best resources for this topic, rearrange the information and use your skills to simplify them and arrange them in good, clear and attractive sequence; review your article very well and check all the points we mention before. Then, send us your article.
• Try to write more than one article (maximum 5 articles) and let us review them and approve the best one to compete in the competition (all the valuable articles could be published in the competition or after it if you wish).
• Stay connected to us by following pharmacist development group updates on social sites or by email. (e.g. email updates, newsletter, facebook page, twitter, digg, Google buzz….).
• Once, your article is approved for publishing in the competition. Ask your friends to follow the updates of pharmacist development group website and to visit your article when it is published.
• Once the article is published share it everywhere and spread the link of it in all social sites, facebook groups, emails and forums and ask the readers to share the article if they are  interested in it. (The more you spread your article the more visitors visit it, the more benefits they get and this is the main goal of the competition).
• Share by your opinion in other articles and share the good articles. Try to spread the benefits even it is not produced by you. Wait for the final results. And don’t forget that you have wined the scientific benefit, the challenge soul and improved your skills.
